The first family boarding house was opened in 1932 by Maša Chmelikova from Prag and she named it "Pension Soline". The resort Soline is, namely, the oldest tourist area of Brela. The postwar tourist visit to Brela starts back in the 60-ties. Besides native guests, for the most part the visitors are German and Austrian. Gradually, large infrastructure projects were carried out: the road was built, the port, the regional water supply, and the sewerage system.
Thus the tourism expands along the whole Brela coast, where new localities appear:
Loznica, Podrače - Šćit, Stomarica, Podcrkavlje, and Jakiruša with a great number of beautiful and comfortable private boarding houses, restaurants and bars, while also the hotel "Pelegrin" was built.
Today in Brela in private accommodation there are 4638 beds.
The family houses are decorated nicely and harmoniously, with the contemporary architecture, and offering a pleasant view over the kilometres long area from Loznica to Jakiruša.
The reception and the treatment of guests is of a high level, which can be confirmed with the medals and recognitions received from tourists who continue to come for a vacation to Brela, many of them even to the same boarding houses, for 20, 30, or more years.
