SACRAL MONUMENTS:


The Church of St. Stjepan: situated in Donje Selo, built in 1897, although on that location there was twice previously built a church. It is a modern church of high cultural value. St. Stjepan is the patron of Brela.

 

The Church of our Lady of Carmel: situated in Soline, a valuable monument of the baroque architecture in harmony with the surroundings. Since it was built in 1715 in the appreciation of the victory against the Turks, it is also known as the Church of Lady of Victory.

 

The Church of St. Ilija: situated in Ribičići, in the foothill of the mountain Biokovo, built in 1906, although on the same foundations there was previously built a church in 1760.

 

Lady of Health Church (the old one): situated in Brela Gornja, the church dates from the beginning of the 18th century, with the rustic form of Dalmatian baroque, characteristic for Dalmatian hinterland.  

 

Lady of Health Church (the new one): the distric church of Brela Gornja. It was built in 1939.

 

The Church of St. Nicola: the church from the pre-Turkish period, around five centuries old, situated on the hill 572 metres high, under Bukovac. St Nicola has been for centuries – until recently – the patron of Brela.

 

The Church of St. Ilija: a simple church from the beginning of the 18th century with the characteristics of rural architecture.

 

St. Roko Chapel: in Donje Selo, near the church of St. Stjepan. It was built in 1856.  

 

Chapel of Our Lady on Dubci: built in 1870. 

 

St. Kajo Chapel: situated on Nevista, mentioned already in 1768.

 

 

VILLAGE COMPLEX:

 

Bekavci – Donji Kričak, Filipovići in Soline, Tomaši in Zaveterje, Ivanci – Kočine, Zelići Donji and Zelići Gornji, Šošići – Banja, Krug, Juričići, Ribičići, Medići, Prosik, Gornja Mala, Zaveterje with hamlets.

 

CIVIL CONSTRUCTIONS:

 

Fortified tower in Soline: a complex of Filipović houses, which, besides the function of living had also a defensive function against the Turks. When the danger ceased, both towers were adapted to apartment houses.

 

French road: the roads have cleaved the area across which the Roman road (so called Tabula Peutgeriana) passed from Salona to Narona. The rests of the stone wall "French road", "Emperor's road" and "Turkish road" are being discovered also today in Vrulja, Ćuril, as well as in Nevista, Podgradina, and Poletnica.

 

Herceg tower: on Biokovo crags, strategically located near the cliff and the drinking water well.

 

Tower on Poletnica: (387m) significant historical locality with the rests of Turkish tower from the 16th and the 17th century, famous for numerous clashes with the Turks. In one of those fights Hasan-aga Arapović was killed. He was Hasan-aginica's husband, from the popular ballad Hasanaginica.
